I was taking the Fergusons on a trip to the Ridge when I drove into sand. There all afternoon, and had to go into Collarenebri and get Vincent's Garage truck to come out and get us out with planks. Locality - 13 mile sand ridge - Collarenebri"

Jack McNicoll was formerly a circus clown, and, after refusing an offer of £1000 and a motor car for the stone, kept the gem in a Sydney safe deposit, whilst he did poorly paid station work. He afterwards sold it for £400 just before his death. Stone afterwards changed hands twice in London for £2000"

Size - four and a 1/2 inches x two and 3/4 inches. Weight - 790 carats. Depth of colour - 1/4 inch. Part of opalised blade-bone of a plesiosaurus. Finder refused offer of £1000 and motor car for it, afterwards sold it for £400 just before his death. Stone afterwards changed hands twice in London for £2000. Taken at Lightning Ridge, 1928"
