Mount is stamped with "G. A. Hills, 82 King Street". On reverse side is attached a pamphlet by GA Hills, advertising mounted photographs for sale. The pamphlet is titled "Departure of N. S. Wales Troops for South Africa. Departure of Last Contingent by S.S. Langton Grange from Newcastle." Then follows a list of portraits. It is assumed this photograph is one of those portraits.
