The inaugural general meeting of the current incarnation of the Wagga Wagga and District Historical Society took place at the Wagga Wagga Teachers' College on 17 September 1962.

1) 1989 Letter from the Historical Society to the Riverina Archives explaining that the Rats of Tobruk Association has placed information in a time capsule to be opened in 2088 (The location of the capsule is unknown).
2) 2001 Letter from the Historical Society to the President of the Quota Club of Wagga Wagga explaining the intentions of the Wagga City Council to bury a time capsule adjacent to the Amphitheatre in 2002, to be opened in 2052.
