Biographical history
The Bungarby Public School was established in January 1957. A public school was a general elementary school in the New South Wales education system. The commencement of Bungarby Public School coincided with the decision of the Department of Education to abolish Provisional Schools and to require a minimum enrolment of nine pupils to required to maintain a school of this classification. Bungarby Public School closed in December 1972.

Bungarby Provisional School (1884); Bungarby Public School (1884-1885); Bungarby-Gunningrah Half-time School (1885-1886); Bungarby Provisional School (1901- 1906);
Bungarby Half-time School (1908-1912); Bungarby Provisional School (1912-1936); and Bungarby Public School (1944 -1954).
