Name of creator
The Wagga Wagga Free City Library was officially opened on 24 May 1946 by the NSW Director-General of Education, Mr JG McKenzie. Miss Jean Hay was appointed the first librarian, with aproximately 5000 books in her care. The majority of the book collection was from the Wagga School of Arts Library. The remainder was purchased from the NSW State Library.

Subject files containing programmes, catalogues, newsletters, booklets, press clippings, letters, photographs, and other ephemera. Includes material relating to the Wagga Agricultural College, Wagga Art Society, Wagga Film Society, 'Back to Wagga' Week, Wagga Eisteddfod, the Anglican Church, Wagga Wagga City Council, Wagga Teachers' College, Wagga and District Historical Society, Wagga Wagga City Library, Wagga High School, Wagga Mardi Gras, elections, floods, etc.
