Photograph of "Engine of the Cootamundra-Tumut train at Gilmore siding. The train to Batlow waits here until the other train has passed, after transhipping passengers and freight. Don Dowell, now engine cleaner at the Tumut shed, with mate is on the footplate as acting fireman, going back to Tumut after bringing the Batlow train out. The Cootamundra train crew change over today and take the Batlow train up. The engine is one of the 30 series - S class. Mon. 23rd Sept. 1957. 10.50 a.m. Sun"
Photograph of "View from the Wereboldera railway siding, looking towards the hills on the eastern side of the Gilmore Valley. 1051' above sea level, Wereboldera is at the foot of the steep climb to Batlow, 2544', and about 9-10 miles further on. The line crosses the Gilmore Creek about 1/4 mile ahead, leaving the Creek to the east. The road serving the Upper Gilmore Valley runs along the foot of the hills in picture. Photograph of "Group of shelter pines on Herron's property, Wybalena, 2386', and about 2 miles from Batlow. No siding exists here, but it is a recognised stopping place, situated at the top of the steep grade. The Reedy Flat Creek falls are about a mile4 away, so I left the train here and walked across the paddocks to the creek. Some of the old orchards hereabouts are being rooted up.
